Red Sox at Fenway Park

On September 27, 2002, Red Sox played its third to last game at home against Tampa Bay Devil Ray, which is generally considered the worst team in the American League.

John Burkett started for the night, and Red Sox won the game with relative ease, 6:1. This was, however, after they were officially eliminated from the 2002 playoff race about two days prior to the game. They finally finished with 93 wins. Anaheim Angels, the eventual World Champs, took the final wild card spot with 99 wins.

It is also notable that Manny won the batting title this year at .349, and I believe Pedro, with his monster performance after All Star break, will walk away with his fourth Cy Yang by the end of the season.

Johnny Damon singled to right field. Ramirez heading back to dugout. Reporter and his outrageous cam.
